DL520 – New York JFK to Los Angeles…

Delta Air Lines flight DL520, the Boeing 767 involved in the emergency landing, is a routine scheduled flight between New York JFK and Los Angeles.

The aircraft involved in the incident is registered as N176DN.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N176DN is a 33.5 year old Boeing 767-300 that was delivered to the airline in December 1990.

Of the 767-300 variant, Delta Air Lines has 44 of them in the fleet.

Furthermore, of that 44, all but three are in active service.

Also, the average fleet age of the variant at the airline stands at 28.1 years.

Delta Air Lines flight DL520, involved in the emergency landing, departed New York JFK at 0802 local time today and initially climbed out towards Los Angeles.

Upon the loss of their right hand emergency slide, the aircraft made an emergency landing back into it’s departure airfield.

It landed safely without incident at 0844 local time, around 40 minutes after departure.

It is understood that the Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 involved in the emergency landing at New York JFK has been grounded.

As for the passengers, a replacement aircraft was utilized to take the passengers onwards to Los Angeles.

Furthermore, all eyes will be on the investigation into how this emergency slide separated.

The FAA said the following in a statement, adding that they will investigate:

“”Delta Air Lines Flight 520 returned safely to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York around 8:35 a.m. local time on Friday, April 26, after the crew reported a vibration”.

As soon as we have more information pertinent to this emergency, we will update you accordingly.
