Condor Flight Frankfurt-Fuerteventura Declares Emergency

UPDATE #1 @ 1002 UK time – Condor flight DE1402 bound for Fuerteventura has turned around over the Marseille area, potentially returning to Frankfurt. Currently at FL320.

UPDATE #2 @ 1004 UK time – DE1402 is descending out of FL320 at this current stage to the north-west of Marseille. Unclear what the reason for the emergency is at this point.

UPDATE #3 @ 1006 UK time – As per Planespotters, D-ABON is a 23.5 year old Boeing 757-300 that was delivered to Condor back in June 2000. This airframe is popular due to it’s Wir Lieben Fliegen colours that it has painted on the jet.

UPDATE #4 @ 1007 UK time – DE1402 continues to descend, passing through FL210 at well over 4,000fpm at the minute. Unclear which airport will be the diversion field.

UPDATE #5 @ 1008 UK time – Nearest airports for the aircraft from Frankfurt originally bound for Fuerteventura for such a diversion is Lyon or Geneva at this present moment.

UPDATE #6 @ 1010 UK time – @RadarBoxCom shows that DE1402 will be diverting to Lyon as a result of this emergency broadcast.

UPDATE #7 @ 1013 UK time – DE1402 descends through FL100. Looking like either a straight-in approach for Runway 35L or will go the long way around for 17R.

UPDATE #8 @ 1018 UK time – Condor flight DE1402, bound for Fuerteventura initially from Frankfurt, is on final approach for Runway 35L at Lyon.

UPDATE #9 @ 1023 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! As per @RadarBoxCom, DE1402 has appeared to have landed safely into Lyon following it’s emergency broadcast not too long ago. Awaiting confirmation of the reason for this emergency.
