UPDATE #1 @ 1506 UK time – Cathay Pacific flight CX663 from Hong Kong to Mumbai is descending through FL260 as Bangkok looks to be the diversion field for this emergency.

UPDATE #2 @ 1507 UK time – As per Planespotters, B-KQE (The aircraft operating this flight), is a 10.8 year old Boeing 777-300ER that was delivered to the carrier back in March 2013.

Of the 777-300ER variant, the carrier has 38 of them in the fleet, of which 34 are in active service, and four are currently parked, offering an average fleet age of 11.2 years.

UPDATE #3 @ 1509 UK time – CX663 is making a rapid descent into Bangkok, passing through FL200 and lower. Vertical speed anywhere between 3,500-4,500ft per minute at this time.

UPDATE #4 @ 1511 UK time – At this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency is, but is serious enough to prompt a diversion into Bangkok rather than continue on to Mumbai from Hong Kong.

UPDATE #5 @ 1515 UK time – CX663 continues it’s descent to Bangkok, and is currently to the north of the City at this time.

UPDATE #6 @ 1518 UK time – CX663 is on the downwind leg passing through FL80 as the crew onboard prepare for an emergency landing into Bangkok.

UPDATE #7 @ 1522 UK time – Cathay Pacific flight CX663 has made a tight turn to finals for it’s emergency landing into Bangkok.

UPDATE #8 @ 1527 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! CX663 from Hong Kong to Mumbai has appeared to have landed safely into Bangkok following it’s emergency call a few moments ago resulting in this diversion. Standby for updates.

UPDATE #9 @ 1529 UK time – CX663 has already got a slot to depart Bangkok again. Still unclear what the nature of the emergency is. The aircraft has parked up on a remote stand.
