UPDATE #1 @ 1214 UK time – OS65 seems to be turning slowly south, with the diversion field still not clear at this time.

UPDATE #2 @ 1215 UK time – As per Planespotters, OE-LPA is a 26.2 year old airframe, which was first delivered to Lauda Air originally in September 1997, and then went over to Austrian in September 2005.

UPDATE #3 @ 1218 UK time – Austrian Airlines flight OS65 from Vienna to Chicago is heading in the direction of Ireland, with the aircraft expected to past Belfast to the East.

UPDATE #4 @ 1222 UK time – OS65 is still at FL340 with no indications of descent as of yet. Potential diversion to Shannon instead of Dublin?

UPDATE #6 @ 1229 UK time – Austrian Airlines flight OS65 to Chicago looking very likely for a Shannon diversion at this time, and has been given further descent clearance to FL250. The reason is still unclear at this time.

UPDATE #7 @ 1233 UK time – Here is the METAR for Shannon Airport ahead of OS65’s arrival into the Irish field.

UPDATE #8 @ 1235 UK time – OS65 has been given clearance to descend to FL140, as the aircraft prepares itself for an emergency landing into Shannon.

UPDATE #9 @ 1238 UK time – OS65 currently doing continuous descent whilst jettisoning fuel to be at landing weight. The Austrian website shows a 2pm departure for Shannon, and is expected to continue on to Chicago currently.

UPDATE #10 @ 1244 UK time – OS65 is about to pass over Galway as it continues its descent through FL120.

UPDATE #11 @ 1247 UK time – Crew onboard OS65 reports that they have around three minutes of fuel jettison left before they will make an approach into Shannon.

UPDATE #12 @ 1250 UK time – ATC have instructed OS65 to prepare for the ILS 06 approach into Shannon Airport.

UPDATE #13 @ 1253 UK time – OS65 is continuing its descent as it approaches the downwind leg for the ILS Runway 06.

UPDATE #14 @ 1257 UK time – OS65 is heading towards the base leg portion of the approach for the ILS 06 at Shannon.

UPDATE #15 @ 1302 UK time – OS65 is now on final approach into Shannon Airport, with the expectation that the emergency isn’t enough to ground the aircraft at this time, as it is expected to continue on to Chicago at 2pm local time.

UPDATE #16 @ 1305 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! Austrian Airlines flight OS65 between Vienna and Chicago has appeared to have touched down safely into Shannon Airport following its 7700 emergency broadcast over Scotland. Fire engines are escorting the aircraft, as per ATC.

UPDATE #17 @ 1306 UK time – Pilot on OS65 confirms everything is “ok”, but again still no cause for the emergency.

UPDATE #18 @ 1318 UK time – @FlightEmergency confirming the cause of the emergency was a Medical, hence why the aircraft will continue onwards to Chicago at 2pm.
