UPDATE #1 @ 1025 UK time – American Airlines flight AA63, originally bound for Miami from Paris, made a u-turn off the west coast of France during this emergency broadcast.

UPDATE #2 @ 1026 UK time – N772AN, the aircraft involved in this emergency, is a 25 year old Boeing 777-223ER that was delivered to the U.S carrier back in March 1999, as per data from Planespotters.

Of the 777-200 variant, the U.S carrier has 47 of them in the fleet, of which 44 are in active service and three are parked, offering an average fleet age of 23.2 years.

UPDATE #3 @ 1029 UK time – Data from @RadarBoxCom shows that American Airlines flight AA63 bound for Miami is returning to Paris following this emergency. The cause is not yet known at this time.

UPDATE #4 @ 1031 UK time – AA63 has made one descent already from FL360 down to FL310, which is what the altitude currently is for the Boeing 777 at this time.

UPDATE #5 @ 1036 UK time – AA63 is currently to the north of Nantes at FL310 and cruising at 520kts across the ground.

UPDATE #6 @ 1039 UK time – American Airlines flight AA63 is continuing it’s descent out of FL310 as the aircraft gets closer to Paris. Still unclear why the Miami-bound flight has declared an emergency.

UPDATE #7 @ 1050 UK time – AA63 initiates the larger chunk of the descent as the aircraft gets closer to CDG for landing.

UPDATE #8 @ 1051 UK time – @FlightEmergency on X confirms that the cause of the emergency is due to a fuel leak onboard the American Airlines Boeing 777 that was originally bound for Miami.

UPDATE #9 @ 1057 UK time – AA63 now entering the city of Paris, passing through FL140-160 as the crew onboard get ready for their emergency landing.

UPDATE #10 @ 1106 UK time – AA63 is now on the base leg into CDG. Landing expected in the next few minutes.

UPDATE #11 @ 1110 UK time – AA63 is now on final into CDG after over two hours in the air.

UPDATE #12 @ 1117 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! American Airlines flight AA63, originally bound for Miami, has landed back into Paris CDG due to an emergency broadcast caused by a fuel leak onboard the aircraft.
