LONDON – An Air India flight enroute from New York JFK airport to Delhi has turned off flight plan track over Norway and now appears to be diverting to London Heathrow Airport.
The Air India flight designated AIC102D was enroute from New York JFK International Airport (JFK) to New Delhi (DEL) and squawked 7700 General Emergency momentarily. It now appears to be diverting to London Heathrow, squawking normally.
The nature and cause of the diversion is unclear at this stage.
The flight is now squawking normally, but is continuing its unscheduled approach to London Heathrow Airport (LHR). The Boeing 777 is currently sequenced into arriving traffic.
The aircraft in question is Boeing 777-300ER registered VT-ALU, a 12-year old aircraft belonging to the Indian flag carrier Air India.
