Air France Flight Paris-Casablanca Declares Emergency

An Air France flight operating from Paris to Casablanca has declared an emergency shortly after departing from Paris.

Air France flight AF1896 declared the emergency with squawk code 7700 and is currently on return to Paris CDG.

Return to Paris (CDG)

Having declared an emergency with transponder code 7700 after departure, flight AF1896 expedited a return to the origin airport Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG).

The nature of the emergency prompting the early return is not yet known.

Landed Paris (CDG)

Air France flight AF1896 has now landed Paris CDG having expedited a direct return. Flight crew terminated the climb after departure at 6,000 feet before squawking transponder code 7700.

The aircraft then negotiated an immediate return to land.

Flight Details

Air France flight AF1896 made a slightly delayed departure out of Paris this morning. The service shows an actual time of departure of 07:48 local time against a scheduled departure time of 07:10 local.

Bound for Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) the flight had departed and was in the early stages of climb when the emergency was declared.

The aircraft conducting this morning’s AF1896 rotation to Casablanca was an Airbus A319-100, registered F-GRXF. This is a 21.3 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the the French national carrier, Air France.

The aircraft has been in active service with the airline since its initial delivery in March 2003.
