UPDATE #1 @ 1342 UK time – Air France flight AF474, originally bound for Panama City, has made a u-turn back to Paris CDG following this emergency declaration.

UPDATE #2 @ 1343 UK time – F-GSPJ, the aircraft in question operating this flight, is a 24.2 year old Boeing 777-200 as per data from Planespotters.

Of the 777-200 variant, the French carrier has 18 of them in the fleet, offering an average fleet age of 23.6 years.

UPDATE #3 @ 1344 UK time – At this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency is onboard Air France flight AF474 between Paris and Panama City.

UPDATE #4 @ 1349 UK time – AF474 is tracking overhead Rouen at FL280. Unclear whether the aircraft will be holding to dump fuel or whether that is happening right now.

UPDATE #5 @ 1350 UK time – AF474 now tracking north. Holds or deviations expected before arrival into CDG.

UPDATE #6 @ 1356 UK time – AF474 now on the coastline of France as deviations continue when burning fuel.

UPDATE #7 @ 1406 UK time – AF474 has nearly completed it’s first hold following the burning of fuel to get to landing weight.

UPDATE #8 @ 1413 UK time – AF474 has commenced a descent and looks to be coming out of the hold for it’s emergency landing into Paris CDG. Again, still unclear what the reason is for the flight bound for Panama City.

UPDATE #9 @ 1420 UK time – Air France flight AF474 is on the downwind leg into CDG, as the crew onboard prepare for the emergency landing.

UPDATE #10 @ 1427 UK time – AF474 now on the base leg, landing expected imminently.

UPDATE #11 @ 1440 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! Air France flight AF474, originally bound for Panama City has appeared to have touched down safely back into Paris CDG following it’s emergency declaration nearly an hour ago.

UPDATE #12 @ 1440 UK time – @airlivenet reports that it was a technical issue onboard that prompted the Emergency.
