Tracking East – Back to Dhaka?

G9515 has made a u-turn and is now tracking east, potentially back to Dhaka.

Air Arabia Dhaka-Sharjah Operated by 4R-EXR: About The Emergency Aircraft…

4R-EXR is the aircraft operating Air Arabia flight G9515 between Dhaka and Sharjah.

As per Planespotters, 4R-EXR is a 17.0 year old Airbus A320 that started out life with Air Deccan in July 2007.

By December 2008, it was returned to lessor GECAS, before being sent to Nile Air in July 2009.

From there, the aircraft was handed over to FitsAir in June 2022, which is operating the flight for Air Arabia.

ADS-B Begins To Tell A Story…

ADS-B data shows that the aircraft dropped from FL190 to FL100 in around five minutes, so a normal descent rate of 1,800 feet per minute.

Cause Still Unclear…

At this stage, the nature of the emergency is unclear, with G9515 expected to return to Dhaka, unless the situation gets worse onboard.

Squawk Code Changed From Emergency But Still Diverting…

G9515 has changed it’s squawk code from 7700 to 4702, indicating the emergency is under control.

We will continue to monitor this flight until it lands.

Air Arabia flight G9515, originally bound for Sharjah, is nearing it’s departure field of Dhaka, after an hour and 45 minutes in the air.
