Earlier this morning, an Aer Lingus flight between Belfast and Cardiff made an emergency landing into Manchester.

Information has been released following this incident, so this is what we know so far.

Aer Lingus flight EI3620, which was involved in the emergency landing in Manchester, is a routine scheduled flight between Belfast and Cardiff.

The aircraft involved in the incident is registered as G-CMMK.

As per data from Planespotters.net, G-CMMK is a 8.3 year old ATR 72-600 that started out life with Stobart Air in December 2015.

By January 2020, the aircraft was passed over to Brazilian airline Voepass.

Furthermore, the aircraft was then returned to lessor AerCap in September 2022, before being sent to Emerald Airlines in February 2023.

Emerald Airlines are the company that operates these flights for Aer Lingus Regional.

Of the ATR 72 variant, the regional arm to the Irish carrier has 17 of them in the fleet, of which all but two are in active service.

Furthermore, average fleet age for the variant at the airline stands at 8.9 years.

Aer Lingus flight EI3620 departed Belfast at 1010 local time this morning and climbed out to Cardiff.

Upon reaching the Stoke-on-Trent area, the aircraft made a deviation to the north-east.

Not long after that, an emergency was declared, and the aircraft prepared for an emergency landing into Manchester.

As per @FlightEmergency on X, Aer Lingus flight EI3620 between Belfast and Cardiff made an emergency landing into Manchester for a reason.

It is understood that there was a medical-related issue onboard the aircraft that prompted this diversion.

There is no further information regarding those affected, but that is all we know so far.

It is expected that the aircraft will continue on to Cardiff from Belfast via Manchester later today.
