In the last few moments, an Aer Lingus Airbus A320 from Bilbao to Dublin has declared an emergency near Cardiff.

UPDATE #1 @ 1718 UK time – Aer Lingus flight EI749 looks to be diverting to Cardiff Airport, with the nature of the emergency unknown currently.

UPDATE #2 @ 1719 UK time – Aer Lingus flight EI749 from Bilbao is already on the base leg, passing through 7,000 feet as it aims for a very fast descent and subsequent approach into Cardiff.

UPDATE #3 @ 1722 UK time – EI749 currently passing through 4,000 feet as it prepares for its diversion into the Welsh airport. Cause of the emergency still unclear at this time.

UPDATE #4 @ 1723 UK time – As per Planespotters, EI-CVB is a 22.8 year old Airbus A320 that was delivered new to the Irish carrier back in February 2001.

UPDATE #5 @ 1725 UK time – Cardiff or Bristol looking like the most likely diversion fields for EI749.

UPDATE #8 @ 1731 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! Aer Lingus flight EI749 from Bilbao to Dublin has appeared to have landed safely into Cardiff following its emergency broadcast call a couple of minutes ago.

UPDATE #9 @ 1732 UK time – Medical emergency potentially? A heli-med has also just landed into Cardiff Airport at the same time the Aer Lingus flight has landed.
