Airshow London 2023

Mark your calendars for an exhilarating weekend like no other, from September 8th to 10th, as Ontario’s London International Airport gets ready to host the much-anticipated Airshow London.

This annual extravaganza has been a source of pride for the region, and for two consecutive years, it has earned the prestigious title of the Best Air Show in North America in USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Award.

Drawing aviation enthusiasts from across North America, the event promises a spectacular display of aircraft prowess, both in the skies and on the ground.

Airshow London’s legacy of excellence is poised to continue with the upcoming event. In the face of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the show’s organizers made history in 2020 with a unique socially responsible and physically distant air show named “SkyDrive.”

This innovative approach not only set a precedent as Canada’s only air show that year but also marked the first-ever drive-in air show. The success of this format has paved the way for another breathtaking experience this September.

A Stellar Lineup

Entering its fourth year, SkyDrive has consistently delivered sold-out shows over the past three years. This year promises to elevate guest experience by introducing a range of on-site attractions.

Food trucks, vendors, STEM activities, and an extensive interactive ground display of military aircraft from Canadian and U.S. air forces, navies, coast guards, and more will add to the excitement.

The roster of performers for Airshow London 2023 reads like a who’s who of aviation excellence.

Notable highlights include appearances by the renowned Canadian Forces Snowbirds, the U.S. Air Force F-22 Demo Team, the U.S. Air Force East Coast C-17 Demo Team, and the US Navy Growler Demo team.

Their thrilling performances will paint the skies above YXU with breathtaking displays of aerial prowess and precision.

Celebrating a Milestone

Gerry Vanderhoek, Director of Flight Operations at Airshow London, affirms that this year’s event is not to be missed. The theme for 2023 commemorates 95 years since the first air show in London, and the celebration promises to be a testament to the event’s legacy.

Many of the squadrons that have played a pivotal role in the show’s success have been invited to participate, ensuring a dynamic and diverse display.

Nighttime Spectacles

As if the daytime performances weren’t enough, Airshow London 2023 is set to amaze attendees with some unforgettable nighttime spectacles. The Friday night will feature the “Hour of Power,” a three-hour display of exhilarating aviation performances.

Adding to the enchantment, there will be a captivating drone show and a stunning fireworks display that promises to light up the night sky.
