As they continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, Sydney Airport is approaching 900 flights per day.
Using data from RadarBox.com, we will see how the airport has been performing over the last few weeks, as well as what is needed to proceed onwards.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
Sydney Airport’s Numbers…

For August 8-15, Sydney Airport handled 883 flights based on a seven-day rolling average provided by the flight tracking company.
This represents an increase of 11.49% compared to the same period last year, and is 97 movements short of achieving pre-pandemic levels.
Below is the last four weeks’ worth of data based on the airport’s average daily movements:
Date | 2019 Numbers | 2022 Numbers | 2023 Numbers | Percentage Difference (2023 vs. 2022) |
July 11-18 | 998 movements | 787 movements | 884 movements | +12.33% |
July 18-25 | 986 movements | 813 movements | 886 movements | +8.98% |
July 25-August 1 | 979 movements | 784 movements | 908 movements | +15.82% |
August 1-8 | 907 movements | 790 movements | 888 movements | +12.41% |
What we can see from the data is that the airport is making significant gains compared to last year, and even went as far as hitting that 900-daily flight mark in one of the last four to five weeks as well.
Overall, Sydney Airport is very close to achieving big numbers, and to the point that in the short-term, they have a good chance of exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
All eyes will be on them to see how the rest of the year will go. More flights equals a higher average.
