The summer season has kicked off early and is now in full swing at Heathrow Airport, which recently witnessed an influx of over 7 million passengers in the previous month.

With transatlantic travel leading the way, the last three days of the month were particularly busy as travelers made their way back home just in time to celebrate Independence Day.

Security queues across all terminals have been reported to be under 5 minutes, thanks to the diligent efforts of the airport’s security personnel.

The Airport’s dedicated “Here to Help” teams have also been actively assisting passengers, further streamlining the overall travel experience.

Streamlined immigration process

For families returning from their summer holidays, the immigration process at Heathrow is set to become even more convenient.

Border Force has announced a positive change that will benefit families. Now, all children over the age of 10 will be able to utilize eGates instead of waiting in line to see an immigration officer.

This change is expected to significantly reduce waiting times, allowing families to swiftly navigate through immigration and commence their onward journey.

Family-friendly facilities

In addition to the improved immigration process, families traveling through Heathrow Airport can also take advantage of various family-friendly amenities.

The airport boasts a wide selection of family-friendly restaurants, where kids can eat for free from 20 July until 3 September. This special offer ensures that families can enjoy delicious meals without worrying about their budget.

Moreover, children under the age of 15 can travel for free on the Heathrow Express, providing an affordable and convenient transportation option for families heading to and from the airport.

Duty-Free shopping experience

Heathrow Airport continues to excel in offering a top-notch shopping experience for passengers. With World Duty Free, travellers have the opportunity to save even more. By placing online orders through Heathrow Reserve & Collect, passengers can enjoy a 10% discount on their purchases.

This exclusive offer showcases the airport’s move to providing competitive duty-free prices that outshine those found on the high street.

Whether it’s luxury items, cosmetics, or souvenirs, passengers can indulge in a rewarding shopping spree at Heathrow.

Heathrow’s two-year pay deal

In further positive news, Heathrow Airport has recently finalized a two-year pay deal for its employees. This agreement not only addresses the ongoing cost of living crisis but also ensures that travellers can have peace of mind regarding potential strike actions.

By securing the well-being of its staff, the airport guarantees the smooth functioning of operations, ultimately benefiting the passengers.

In light of the airport’s accomplishments and commitment to providing exceptional service, Heathrow CEO John Holland Kaye expressed his pride in the collective efforts of the airport’s staff during this busy time of year.

Summer at Heathrow Airport is synonymous with family holidays, and the dedicated team stands ready to ensure that every journey starts on a positive note, says the Airport CEO.
