PCS (Public and Commercial Services Union) has announced more strike action planned at London Heathrow, in time for the half-term holidays.
The union has laid out it’s plans for strike action due to certain concerns amongst the workforce.

When Will The Strike Action at London Heathrow Take Place?
Strike action at London Heathrow by PCS will take place on the following dates:
- May 31
- June 1
- June 2
There will be an additional three weeks of industrial action that is short of an actual strike.
It will include a work to rule as well as an overtime ban which will run between June 4-25.
In a statement, the PCS said the following on this:
“Following the end of the last strike action at the beginning of May, we wrote to the Home Office again highlighting the many problems raised with the new roster system and reminding the employer there remains widespread disquiet and anger from members over this.”
“The Home Office public statement during the strike action said they were “disappointed” in the strike action but “open to discussing a resolution.”
“We have set out to the Home Office that we are keen to try to find a resolution.”
“But it was only following the threat of further strike action that the Home Office has only just indicated they are willing to meet however, as yet there’s been no consideration of the impact of the new roster on staff nor has the employer come back with any proposed changes.”
“Therefore, as it stands the action will go ahead.”
“The members are committed to the action and expect that their walkouts will disrupt passport checks for travellers coming into the UK at Heathrow airport.
Disruption Expected…
The PCS workers being responsible for passport checks.
There will no doubt be disruption in place for arrivals at London Heathrow.
This will no doubt include delays of processing passengers.
It is expected that the strike days will have the lasting impact, as opposed to the rule to work & overtime ban.
The strikes have also been placed deliberately to cause disruption to passengers during the busy half-term holidays.
Overall…
In conclusion, all eyes will be on what the impact of the strike action will look like at London Heathrow.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on whether the Home Office will budge in the weeks ahead.
It is clear also that PCS will not back down unless their demands are met, so strike action will likely continue over the Summer.
