Perth Airport, situated on the pristine west coast of Australia has joined forces with Destination Perth to sell Perth to the world as a must-visit destination.
In a recent statement, Kate Holsgrove, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Perth Airport, emphasized the airport’s unwavering commitment to boosting visitation to the region, particularly from international key markets.
Kate Holsgrove announced the partnership agreement, which aligns with the pivotal efforts of Destination Perth and Tourism Western Australia (WA) in showcasing Western Australia as a remarkable destination for holidays and events.
This focussed effort hopes to make a significant impact on the tourism landscape in the west coast capital city.

The Economic Significance of Tourism
The value of tourism to Perth extends far beyond providing memorable vacations. It plays a pivotal role in the region’s economy.
The Western Australian tourism industry supports nearly 30,000 tourism-related businesses, generating an impressive 100,900 jobs and contributing a substantial $11 billion in visitor spend.
These numbers give some sense of the value of tourism to the local economy.
Destination Perth’s Vision
Sonja Mitchell, the Chief Executive Officer of Destination Perth, shares her vision for the partnership with Perth Airport.
Their membership base comprises over 500 tourism operators spread across the region, encompassing accommodation, entertainment, attractions, transportation, tour and cruise operators, and an array of restaurants.
This collaboration aims to introduce these offerings to international visitors.
Taking Perth Global
A significant part of Destination Perth’s strategy is to engage in international travel trade roadshows, with the goal of increasing global awareness of the west coast city as a desirable destination.
These roadshows act as the bridge connecting international tourists to the splendid capital city of Western Australia.
Over the upcoming year, the focus will be on key visitor markets, including India, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, UK/Europe, and the USA, in addition to targeting interstate Australia.
The endeavors of Destination Perth, the airport, and the Western Australian State Government are synchronized to amplify aviation access and introduce new air services.
This synergy is anticipated to drive exponential growth in the number of visitors, contributing not only to the region’s tourism sector but also to the broader economy.
