Fraport October 2023 Traffic Figures

Fraport, also known as Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany, has this week released its October 2023 passenger and air traffic figures.

This article will dive into both the passenger and air traffic figures for Fraport during October 2023 and what this means for the German hub.

Showing signs of yet more significant growth in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fraport has released figures showing an increase of 14.9% in passenger levels year-on-year as well as recorded their most aircraft movements since October 2019.

During the month of October 2023, Frankfurt Airport catered for a total of nearly 5.7 million passengers, 5,670,937 to be exact.

Alongside the 14.9% passenger level increase, Frankfurt Airport handled 40,720 takeoffs and landings, their highest figure since pre-pandemic in October 2019.

From an air freight/cargo perspective, Frankfurt Airport handled 173,173 metric tons, a decrease of 2% year-on-year.

Not only does Fraport manage Frankfurt Airport, the group also manages Slovenia’s Ljubljana Airport (LJU), Brazilian airports Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA), Peru’s Lima Airport (LIM), 14 of Greece’s regional airports, Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) in Bulgaria, and Antalya Airport (AYT) in Turkey.

Most of the group’s airports showed an increase in passenger figures, apart from Brazilian airports Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA) seeing a decline of 8.2% to a total of 972,956 passengers, as well as both Bulgarian airports, Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) saw a decline of 2.7% to a total of 167,293 passengers.
