Wizz Air is no stranger to adding new routes as the company is one of two fast-growing Low-Cost Carriers in Europe, and its new seasonal route to the French city of Lyon from London Gatwick which inaugurated on January 10.

Flight W95767 departed London Gatwick at 6.05 a.m. on January 10, making the arrival into Lyon (LYS) 25 minutes prior to schedule. The flight was operated by G-WUKR, an Airbus A321neo registered to Wizz Air UK.

Four times per week, Wizz Air will operate these flights to Lyon throughout the winter season.

With Lyon being a hotspot destination with historical landmarks, renowned restaurants, and famous frescoes, the destination is sure to be a multi-access destination point as it also acts as a doorstep to the Alps.

Marion Geoffroy, Managing Director of Wizz Air UK, said:

“We are thrilled to celebrate the launch of yet another new route from Gatwick Airport. Not only is Lyon known for its UNESCO-listed Old Town, but it is only a short drive away from world-renowned ski resorts in the French Alps.”

“This latest launch highlights our commitment to bringing improved connectivity, affordable fares, and more choices to our customers in the UK. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard our young, efficient, and sustainable aircraft.”

Recent base fleets expansion…

On December 20, Wizz Air celebrated the arrival of its 7th aircraft to its base at Sofia Airport. The airline also launched 2 new routes from Sofia to Stockholm and to Hamburg and increased the frequency on 11 of its most attractive routes.

With the new aircraft, Wizz Air’s fleet in Bulgaria now totals 10 aircraft. Wizz Air welcomed the new aircraft at the departure of the newest Sofia-Hamburg flight.

The announcement also coincided with the launch of the two new routes from Sofia: to the German city of Hamburg and to the capital of Sweden, Stockholm.

This perhaps highlights the airline’s ambitions to develop the Bulgarian market by expanding its network and adding more travel options.

At the joint press conference with Sofia Airport, Wizz Air also announced the increase in the frequency of its flights to 11 Sofia routes.

Passengers now have more choices for travel from the Bulgarian capital to the following exciting destinations: Basel, Abu Dhabi, Brussels, Paris, Valencia, Eindhoven, Geneva, Nice, Memmingen (Munich – West), Barcelona, and Tel Aviv.

Wizz Air’s new routes from Sofia are charming European cities worth visiting. With its maritime charm, Hamburg is one of the most beautiful and well-developed large cities in Europe, which impresses with sights with a 1,200-year history.
