WINAIR has taken delivery of its second ATR 42-500 aircraft, with the new addition bearing the registration PJ-WIW.
The new fleet addition made its appearance on the tarmac of Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) Airport, St. Maarten on October 27, 2023.
With this arrival, WINAIR is gearing up for the winter season ahead, boasting a fleet of two ATRs alongside four Twin Otters.
Hans van de Velde, the CEO of WINAIR, expressed his enthusiasm for the latest addition to the fleet, stating, “We are excited to welcome our second ATR 42-500 aircraft to the fleet.”
He continued, “The first ATR has been operating very well since its launch in July, and our customers have been impressed with the comfort and on-time performance of the aircraft.”
“With the addition of the second ATR, we will be able to offer our customers more frequencies to our destinations, especially Curacao, Aruba, and Bonaire will see an increase of flights.”
This exciting news not only marks a significant milestone for WINAIR but also spells great news for travelers who frequent these destinations.
With improved flight frequency, passengers can enjoy more options and flexibility when planning their trips. As the demand for these Caribbean getaways continues to grow, WINAIR’s expansion is well-timed and promising.
Recognizing the Team
WINAIR has taken the opportunity to express its gratitude to the dedicated individuals and teams who made this achievement possible.
Mr. Marco London, WINAIR’s Quality Assurance Manager, and project leader Mr. Michael Cleaver played crucial roles in the realization of this project.
Their hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence have been integral to the seamless introduction of the second ATR aircraft.
In addition to the internal teams at WINAIR, the St. Maarten Civil Aviation Authority (SMCAA) has been an invaluable partner in this endeavor.
Hans van de Velde expressed his gratitude, saying, “We couldn’t have done it without the hard work and dedication of our project team. And we are grateful to the SMCAA team for their continued support.”
The Future for WINAIR and St. Maarten
With its expanded fleet, WINAIR is confidently entering the winter season. The four Twin Otters and two ATR aircraft provide a solid foundation for the airline to meet the growing demand for flights to and from the beautiful Caribbean destinations.
This expansion aligns with the ongoing developments at PJIAE, which will further contribute to the growth of the economy in St. Maarten, fostering sustainability and progress in the region.
