This codesharing agreement between WestJet and Condor into Frankfurt and Canada is an expansion of their existing interlining agreement.

Such a relationship has lasted around 10 years.

Through the agreement, we will see the following elements take place:

  • WestJet will sell Condor flights on their website for flights from Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto & Halifax to Frankfurt.
  • Condor will access WestJet’s domestic network & flights into the U.S.

Furthermore, it is understood that such itineraries have been available to book since June 24, so passengers can take advantage of this now!

Both Sides Wanting to Unlock Opportunities…

John Weatherill, WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer said the following on these new offering of flights:

“Through the expansion of our partnership with Condor Airlines, we are unlocking amazing opportunities for our guests in Europe and Canada to access an extensive list of tourism destinations on both sides of the Atlantic”.

“Our shared passion for affordable leisure travel has allowed our partnership to evolve to meet the growing demand for transatlantic travel, and we look forward to welcoming the world to Canada this summer.”

Furthermore, adding to this was Jens Boyd, Commercial Director at Condor:

“With Condor’s return to Calgary, it’s been high time for us to strengthen our ties with WestJet and improve travel for our passengers and sales partners”.

“Everyone will be able to access our joint codeshare network to Frankfurt and beyond through WestJet.com, and services can be added irrespective of where the ticket was booked.”

“In parallel, we are streamlining connections at all Canadian airports by allowing our passengers to go to their connecting gate right after immigration without having to pick up their luggage first.”

In conclusion, this represents another big step in the relationship between WestJet and Condor.

With the Canadian carrier able to access a new market like Frankfurt (FRA), it opens up plenty of opportunities for them.

With FRA a major hub within Europe, it allows the Canadian carrier to increase revenues of customers from the continent.

Whilst they do have an expansive network into Europe already, this addition will be vital for more coverage.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on how this new stage of their relationship will perform.
