WestJet to Begin Fredericton – Calgary Service

Canadian carrier WestJet will be launching a new service to New Brunswick, between Fredericton and Calgary.

This article will cover the details of WestJet launching its new service to New Brunswick between Fredericton and Calgary.

WestJet: Fredericton to Calgary

Inaugurating on June 20, 2024, WestJet will be commencing a new service between Fredericton, New Brunswick, and Calgary.

The new route will be operated on a twice weekly basis running between June 20 and October 28.

Firstly, the outbound service will depart Calgary International Airport (YYC) at 09:15 a.m. Then arrives into Fredericton International Airport (YFC) at 17:00 p.m.

Secondly, the inbound service will depart Fredericton International Airport (YFC) at 17:50 p.m. After that, it arrives back into Calgary International Airport (YYC) at 20:05 p.m.

It is likely that the route will be operated by the carrier’s Boeing 737 fleet. However, the carrier currently has the following –

  • 39 Boeing 737-700s
    • Equipped with 12 Business Class and 120 Economy Class seats.
  • 50 Boeing 737-800s
    • However, some are equipped with 12 Business Class and 162 Economy Class seats.
    • However, some are equipped with 189 Economy Class seats.
  • 32 Boeing 737 MAX 8s
    • However, some are equipped with 12 Business Class and 162 Economy Class seats.
    • However, some are equipped with 189 Economy Class seats.

Commenting on their latest route announcement, WestJet’s Vice President of External Affairs, Andrew Gibbons, says, “The addition of service between Fredericton and Calgary is a testament to our ongoing commitment to deliver on our promise to expand our service in Atlantic Canada through critical east-to-west connectivity, which has been met with strong community support.”

“The route we are celebrating today will not only foster enhanced business and leisure ties but further strengthen the connection between the vibrant and unique economies in both Fredericton and Calgary.”

Adding to Gibbons’ comments, President and CEO of the Fredericton International Airport Authority, Johanne Gallant, adds, “We’re delighted to welcome WestJet’s non-stop route from Fredericton to Calgary.”

“YFC is a growing airport in a thriving region, and this new flight brings the connectivity families, businesses and visitors are looking for.”

Also, David Seabrook, Director of Tourism for the Fredericton Capital Region, says, “WestJet’s new Calgary-Fredericton service will be great news to a growing number of Albertans looking to vacation in the Fredericton and the rest of the Maritimes.”

“The connections between family and friends in the two provinces are historically very strong and this new route will be great for those wanting to plan a visit to New Brunswick’s Capital City this summer.”
