Canadian airline WestJet has secured a coveted position among Canada’s best employers, according to Forbes Magazine.
This accolade stems from an extensive survey involving over 40,000 employees across various Canadian companies and institutions.
Angela Avery, WestJet Group’s executive vice-president and chief people, corporate, and sustainability officer, expressed gratitude for this honor, highlighting the airline’s commitment to ensuring workplace satisfaction.
“We are honoured to be recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of Canada’s best employers. As WestJet continues to soar to new heights, this recognition serves as a testament to our dedication to providing fulfilling employment opportunities and ensuring workplace satisfaction across the many diverse roles that are essential to delivering the friendly and reliable travel experiences Canadians know and love,” said Avery.
Forbes Magazine, in collaboration with Statista, conducted a thorough assessment to identify exceptional employers nationwide.
WestJet’s inclusion in the top 15 employers in the transportation and logistics sector underscores its dedication to fostering a positive work environment and prioritizing employee well-being.
Central to WestJet’s success is its people-first culture, characterized by robust community investment, employee engagement initiatives, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
The airline’s innovative approach to talent development further solidifies its reputation as an employer of choice in the aviation industry.
Employee Benefits and Programs
In 2023, WestJet reinstated its employee profit-sharing program, reaffirming its commitment to fostering a collaborative workplace culture.
This initiative reflects the organization’s ethos of recognizing and rewarding the contributions of its workforce, particularly as it navigates a dynamic business landscape.
Safety and Service Excellence
Avery emphasized WestJet’s unwavering dedication to safety and its caring attitude towards employees, guests, and business operations.
With over 12,000 employees united by a common goal of providing affordable and accessible travel experiences, WestJet remains committed to upholding the highest standards of service excellence.
“WestJet remains committed to building a workplace that not only attracts top talent but also nurtures and retains skilled professionals who are essential to WestJet’s success,” concluded Avery.
WestJet trails only Air Canada in terms of size, operating an average of 777 flights and carrying over 66,130 passengers daily.
The airline flies to over 100 destinations across Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. This has included newer routes to Europe, as well as Seoul, South Korea, and non-stop flights from Calgary to Reykjavik, Iceland.
