The Maldives

An archipelagic state consisting of 26 atolls spread over roughly 90,000 square kilometers, the Maldives is the smallest country in Asia, with a land area of only 298 square kilometers.

The Maldives is located southwest of Sri Lanka and India, about 750 kilometers from the Asian continent’s mainland. It is also located just north of the equator.

The Maldives’ strategic location in the Indian Ocean has made it an important trading and shipping hub for centuries.

The Maldives is a popular tourist destination, known for its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and luxurious resorts. The country is also home to a diverse range of marine life, including sharks, rays, and turtles.
