Vistara, India’s full-service carrier and a joint venture between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, has recently announced the expansion of its international network with a new service to the Maldives.

The airline is set to enhance its presence in Malé, the picturesque capital of the Maldives, by introducing direct daily flights to and from Delhi, starting from the 1st of October 2023.

This move comes as part of Vistara’s initiative to provide enhanced connectivity between India and the Republic of Maldives.

The new service is not only set to boost tourism but also strengthen the bilateral cooperation between India and the Maldives.

Mr. Vinod Kannan, the Chief Executive Officer of Vistara, expressed his excitement about this development. He stated, “We are thrilled to introduce direct connectivity between Delhi and Malé – our second route to the exquisite beach destination, in addition to Mumbai-Malé.”

“This new route will enable us to provide our customers with enhanced access to one of the world’s most popular holiday destinations while also imparting further momentum to the existing bilateral cooperation between India and the Republic of Maldives.”

The Maldives

An archipelagic state consisting of 26 atolls spread over roughly 90,000 square kilometers, the Maldives is the smallest country in Asia, with a land area of only 298 square kilometers.

The Maldives is located southwest of Sri Lanka and India, about 750 kilometers from the Asian continent’s mainland. It is also located just north of the equator.

The Maldives’ strategic location in the Indian Ocean has made it an important trading and shipping hub for centuries.

The Maldives is a popular tourist destination, known for its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and luxurious resorts. The country is also home to a diverse range of marine life, including sharks, rays, and turtles.
