Virgin Atlantic and China Eastern have entered a new codeshare agreement, strengthening vital business and leisure connections to East Asia.

The partnership will effectively open up six new destinations in China including Chengdu and Shenzhen.

With the first phase of the agreement already in motion, travelers booking through Virgin Atlantic gain unparalleled access to various destinations within China.

From the bustling streets of Shanghai to the cultural richness of Xi’an, the possibilities are endless. The convenience of booking a single ticket for multi-city travel streamlines the journey, offering greater ease to passengers.

From the beaches of Jamaica to the vibrant city life of Lagos, a world of adventure awaits. Pending government approval, this expansion promises to redefine travel possibilities, fostering greater exploration and cultural exchange.

Aligning with the ethos of enhancing customer experience, the partnership also brings forth a host of privileges for loyal members.

Co-located at Shanghai Pudong Terminal One, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Gold and Silver members, along with China Eastern Miles members, can relish SkyPriority services.

From expedited check-ins to priority boarding, every step of the journey is imbued with convenience and efficiency.

Rewards Benefits

For frequent flyers, the added benefit of rewards adds an extra dimension to air travel. With the expanded codeshare, Flying Club members can accrue Virgin Points and Tier Points on every flight with China Eastern, accelerating their journey towards rewards.

The prospect of redeeming Virgin Points for future adventures further amplifies the appeal, promising a seamless transition from travel to indulgence.

The resumption of Virgin Atlantic services to Shanghai signifies a significant milestone in post-pandemic aviation.

As global trade dynamics evolve, Shanghai retains its status as a pivotal commercial and financial hub, underscoring the importance of robust air connectivity.

Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Atlantic, aptly captures the essence of this collaboration, saying:

“China and East Asia is an incredibly important region for Virgin Atlantic and we were delighted to welcome back our Heathrow to Shanghai service last year, providing vital links to one of the UK’s largest trading partners, for both passenger and cargo services.

“Our new codeshare with China Eastern, a fellow SkyTeam partner, will serve continued demand for travel to the region and strengthens our commitment to China and East Asia.”

“We know these agreements bring plenty of benefits to our customers, from increased network scope to China and beyond, to reciprocal loyalty rewards for our Flying Club members.”
