Today, Vietravel Airlines carried out the first of eleven tourism charter flights from South Korea, welcoming passengers from Daegu city to Khanh Hoa, Vietnam.
This morning, March 28, 2023, at Cam Ranh International Airport, Khanh Hoa Province, Vietravel Airlines officially welcomed the first charter flight from Daegu city, South Korea.
First of 11 charter flights
In a series of 11 charter flights, the Vietnamese airline is expected to carry more than 2,200 Korean tourists with a frequency of one flight every five days.
Vietravel Airlines Flight VU1329 departed at 07:05 (local time) from Daegu International Airport (TAE), Korea, and landed at 10:40 (Vietnam time) at Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR), Khanh Hoa.
The airline then officially welcomed the first Korean tourist group to “the S-shaped country”. On this special flight, Vietravel Airlines supplemented its in-flight services with a tour guide introducing Vietnamese famous landmarks.
Passengers were also given Vietnamese traditional conical hats – symbolic souvenirs of Vietnam as a way of warm greeting and promoting the national culture.
In the near future, the airline will strengthen the operation of more regular flights to expand the Vietnam – Korea route network.
A move toward regular flights
The Vietnamese airline has marked this first flight as an important milestone in its business strategy to expand the route network.
It is now preparing for the official launch of regular flights connecting Vietnam and Korea, to promote tourism and commercial trade in the summer vacation.
Mr. Vu Duc Bien, CEO of Vietravel Airlines shared: “The tourism industry has accelerated recovery and boomed after the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“Vietravel Airlines has decided to launch charter flights connecting Daegu city, Korea and Cam Ranh city, Vietnam to meet the increasing demand of passengers in both countries.”
“This is also a competitive advantage of Vietravel Airlines in the early stages of entering the Korean market while providing various options for flights at reasonable prices as well as saving travel time through direct flights.”
Tourism demand from the “land of kimchi”
Ranked 7th place in the list of worth-living countries and lowest cost of traveling in the world according to a survey from InterNations in 2022; Vietnam has surpassed China, Japan, and European countries to become a premier destination for Korean tourists.
According to the General Statistics Office, in 2022, the tourists from “the land of kimchi” account for the largest proportion of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam with 26.5%, reaching nearly one million visitors.
From data published by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), after officially opening to international tourists in May 2022, Cam Ranh International Airport welcomed nearly 150,000 tourists from South Korea.
Reciprocally, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Vietnam recorded the number of Vietnamese tourists traveling to Korea in 2022 reaching the milestone of 80,000 people.
The impetus for rapid growth is benefiting from the “New Southern Policy” of South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
It sees the grant of multiple visas with a 5-year term to Vietnamese people. Importantly, Vietnam is the first country in Southeast Asia to enjoy benefit from this regime.
Continuing charter operations
Vietravel Airlines in collaboration with a business partner in Korea will now operate a series of 11 charter flights on the route from Daegu (TAE) to Cam Ranh (CXR) between March 28, 2023 to May 7, 2023.
