Uzbekistan Airways, the national flag carrier of Uzbekistan, has inaugurated a new route from Tashkent to the German city of Munich over the weekend.

The carrier has played a significant role in fostering international connections for the country. Among the many destinations the airline serves, Germany has been a pivotal partner for over three decades.

In this article, we look into the history, development, and recent expansion of Uzbekistan Airways’ flights to Germany, particularly focusing on Frankfurt and the latest route addition, Munich.

A Glimpse into the Past

In 1993, Uzbekistan Airways opened its doors to international travelers, marking a historic moment for both Uzbek citizens and guests of the country.

For the first time, they could embark on a journey from Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, to Frankfurt, a bustling business hub in the heart of Europe.

For 30 years, with the exception of temporary disruptions due to unforeseen circumstances like the global pandemic, flights to Frankfurt have consistently operated.

This unwavering commitment has not only strengthened economic ties but also nurtured the growth of tourism between these two nations.

Today, the air service connecting Tashkent and Frankfurt is available on modern Airbus 321Neo aircraft on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Munich: New Addition to the Network

As of October 29, Uzbekistan Airways expanded its footprint in Germany by introducing flights to Munich.

This captivating city, the most densely populated in the Bavarian federal state, is renowned worldwide for its stunning architecture, diverse gastronomy, and the famous Oktoberfest festival.

The new flight route, Tashkent – Munich – Tashkent, operates twice a week, providing even more opportunities for travelers to explore this vibrant city. Here is the flight schedule:

  • Departure from Tashkent at 06:25, Tashkent time.
  • Arrival in Munich at 9:20, Munich time.
  • Departure from Munich at 10:45, Munich time.
  • Arrival in Tashkent at 21:05, Tashkent time.

Uzbekistan Airways and Deutsche Bahn

To make traveling to Frankfurt or Munich even more convenient and exciting, Uzbekistan Airways has established an agreement with Deutsche Bahn, the German national railway company.

This partnership allows airline passengers to purchase a single ticket that covers international flights and the Deutsche Bahn section of the German railroads.

This seamless transition between air and rail travel simplifies the journey and offers an integrated travel experience.

Beyond Germany: European Destinations

In addition to serving Frankfurt and the new Munich route, Uzbekistan Airways extends its European network to various other cities. Travelers can book flights from Tashkent to the following European destinations:

  • Milan: Flights operate on Fridays.
  • Paris: Flights are available on Tuesdays.
  • Riga: Multiple flight options on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
  • London: Travelers can explore the British capital on Tuesdays and Fridays.
