Pilots at United Airlines have this week approved a new industry-leading deal that will secure a series of benefits and rights for them all.

In the near 600-page document, which you can view by clicking here, the deal secures agreements valued at more than $10bn of value to their existing contracts.

Without further ado, let’s get into it…

Commenting on the signature of this new deal was Capt. Garth Thompson, the MEC Chair for United Airlines‘ pilots:

“This industry-leading contract brings substantial benefits to our pilots and could not have happened
without their unity and steadfast resolve”.

“I am proud that our pilot group will be recognized for their contributions to the company’s success. United Airlines cannot thrive without the hard work of its labor groups.”

The new deal includes the following for pilots at the American carrier:

  • Increase in pay rates between September 29, 2023-September 30, 2027.
  • Quality of work-life and work rule improvements.
  • Sick leave.
  • Long-term disability.
  • Vacation improvements.
  • Increase in retirement benefits for United Airlines’ 16,000 pilots.

On Pages 35-40 of that document, it highlights how pay will increase between now and September 2027 for both captains and first officers.

For example, for Captains flying on their Boeing 787 aircraft, this will increase from $386.95 per hour in October 2023 to $457.17 per hour by January 2027.

Overall, this is a major step for pilots across the airline’s roster, especially with such guaranteed pay increases for the next four years at least.
