Turkmenistan Receives First Boeing 777-300ER in Ashgabat

Turkmenistan Airlines received it’s first Boeing 777-300ER in Ashgabat this week, as the carrier’s growth plans continue.

This aircraft, registered as EZ-A781, will seat 40 passengers in Business, 32 in Premium Economy and 296 in Economy.

Turkmenistan Airlines flight TUA3781 departed Lake Charles at 2017 local time on December 2 and proceeded eastbound in the direction of Ashgabat.

EZ-A781 landed into the base of the airline at 2107 local time the next day, and is the first of two Boeing 777-300ERs that the airline has purchased.

As per data from Planespotters.net, EZ-A781 is a 11.7 year old aircraft that started out life with Cathay Pacific back in April 2012.

By April 2022, the aircraft was handed over to TMH Aviation Leasing, as Cathay Pacific went into financial difficulty due to COVID.

This aircraft has been marked as delivered to Ashgabat-based carrier Turkmenistan Airlines back in August, but was ferried over this week.

In a statement, the carrier said the following on the acquisition of these new Boeing 777-300ERs to the fleet:

“The commissioning of these modern aircraft will create conditions to meet the needs of the population for international passenger transportation and expand the geography of air transportation in the country.”

All eyes will be on how operations perform with these new aircraft, as well as whether there is scope to further grow the fleet going into the future.
