TrueNoord, a specialist regional aircraft lessor, has successfully delivered the first of six Embraer E195-E2 aircraft to Porter Airlines, a Canadian operator.

The remaining five E2s will join Porter’s growing fleet on long-term operating leases throughout 2023.

Commencement of operational service

The delivered aircraft, with the manufacturer serial number (MSN) 19020087, is scheduled to operate flights connecting Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, and Toronto to various cities across Canada and the United States.

Porter Airlines will also offer routes connecting to destinations along the US south and west coasts.

Garry Topp, TrueNoord Sales Director – Americas, expresses his admiration for Porter Airlines and their professionalism in handling the delivery process of the aircraft in Brazil.

Topp highlights that the E2 aircraft is specifically designed to meet the future requirements of regional operators and commends Porter Airlines for their forward-thinking approach.

The Embraer E195-E2 is an outstanding asset that offers next-generation fuel efficiency and remarkable long-range capability.

TrueNoord and the lease market

TrueNoord is a key player in the Embraer leasing market, with approximately 60% of its regional jets and turboprops consisting of this aircraft type.

Anne-Bart Tieleman, a representative of TrueNoord, explains that the addition of E195-E2s to their portfolio aligns with their long-term strategy of introducing new technology aircraft to support regional airline customers worldwide in upgrading their fleets.

Tieleman further emphasizes the significance of Porter Airlines’ adoption of the E2 aircraft, as it opens up new opportunities in regional aviation by offering long-range business and leisure routes.

A strong year for Porter

Porter Airlines has made significant progress this year. In March, the airline announced that it would be investing $65 million in Ottawa to build new maintenance hangars and create 200 new jobs.

This investment is a sign of Porter’s commitment to growing its presence in Ottawa and expanding its operations across Canada.

In April, Porter also announced that it had ordered 30 Embraer E195-E2 jets. These new aircraft will allow Porter to expand its reach to new destinations across North America, including the west coast, southern United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The first of the new E195-E2s was originally delivered in 2022.

Overall, Porter Airlines is on a strong growth trajectory this year. The airline’s investments in new aircraft and facilities will allow it to expand its reach and offer more travel options to Canadians.

Porter Airlines aims to establish new standards within the Canadian airline industry, and TrueNoord is proud to be a part of this innovative journey.

TrueNoord’s delivery of the first Embraer E195-E2 aircraft to Porter Airlines represents a significant milestone for both companies.

Porter Airlines is the North American pioneer of the E2 aircraft, leveraging its range and service qualities to offer long-range business and leisure routes.

With TrueNoord’s support, Porter Airlines aims to set new standards within the Canadian airline industry, demonstrating their commitment to innovation and sustainability.
