Toronto & Montreal’s main international airports will receive a brand new direct service to Lima, Peru through Air Transat.

This new route will complement services already on offer to Colombia, and will also join up nicely with the recently announced services to Cozumel, Mexico.

The Cozumel flights will begin on December 15 this year, and continue on to April 26, operating on a once-weekly basis.

Commenting on this route launch was Michèle Barre, Transat’s Chief Revenue Officer:

“We are proud to add Lima to our portfolio of destinations on three continents”.

“This strategic expansion allows us to diversify our long-haul offering by maximising the use of our A321LR aircraft, and to capitalize on the sustained growth of tourism in South America.”

“Meanwhile, we are consolidating our presence in the Mexican market – a key destination of our Caribbean winter program – by restarting our operations in Cozumel.”

This is a big step for Air Transat as they aim to expand further into the Americas, as well as provide more of a global footprint in terms of its network.

For the utilization of the Airbus A321LR as well, it does show the incredible range offering of the aircraft, and the airline is definitely taking advantage of that.

All eyes will be on the carrier to see how the new routes perform and whether there is a basis to expand this to year-round.
