The inaugural flight touched down in Darwin shortly after midnight, marking the beginning of a convenient and affordable travel option.

To celebrate the launch, Bonza is offering a limited-time sale with fares starting from just $89 (one way) for travel until the end of May 2024.*

New Route Details

The new route operates twice weekly, on Tuesdays/Wednesdays and Fridays/Saturdays. This complements Bonza’s existing network serving the Northern Territory, including flights from Melbourne to Alice Springs and Sunshine Coast to Darwin.

Regular fares start from $149 (one way), making travel to the NT more accessible than ever.

“We’re thrilled to offer more choices for travelers between these two amazing destinations,” said Tim Jordan, Bonza CEO.

“With school holidays coming up, we can’t wait to see people enjoying the Gold Coast’s beaches or soaking in a sunset cruise over the Timor Sea.”

Increased Competition for the Top End

This new route is expected to boost tourism, create jobs, and increase competition in the Northern Territory aviation market.

Bonza acknowledges the support of the Northern Territory Government’s Territory Aviation Attraction Scheme in making this possible.

Industry representatives have also welcomed the new service. Airport Development Group Executive General Manager Rob Porter highlighted the increased affordability for travelers to the Territory.

“Airport Development Group has worked closely with Bonza and the Northern Territory Government to bring more affordable flight options to the Territory,” said Porter.

Queensland Airports Limited CEO Amelia Evans emphasized the economic and tourism benefits for both regions, particularly with the elimination of layovers.

“The Gold Coast to Darwin route has long been an underserved market, so we are thrilled that Bonza has recognised its potential,” said Ms Evans.
