Thai Airways signs lease for 3 new 787-9 aircraft

Air Lease Corporation (NYSE: AL) has announced the signing of long-term lease agreements. The lease covers three brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with Thai Airways International.

These fuel-efficient and technologically advanced widebody airplanes are scheduled for delivery in 2025. This order comes directly from Air Lease Corporation’s existing order book with Boeing.

“We are excited to welcome Thai Airways International as a new customer and to support their fleet modernization efforts with the addition of these three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners,” said Steven F. Udvar-Házy, Executive Chairman of Air Lease Corporation.

Operation on Long-Haul Network

Thai Airways plans to utilize these new aircraft on long-haul routes to Europe, Australia, and within Asia.

Recent Fleet Expansion

Thai Airways recently announced a significant upgrade to its long-haul network with the acquisition of 45 brand-new Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

This ongoing expansion allows Thai Airways to strengthen its global reach. The new Dreamliners will serve routes across Europe, Australia, and within Asia.

Additionally, the acquisition reflects the airline’s commitment to modernizing its fleet. Thai Airways seeks to replace older aircraft with the latest technology, thereby enhancing both passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
