TAP Air Portugal Experiences 23% Growth in South America

TAP Air Portugal has this week revealed that the number of customers travelling with them in South America has risen 23%.

It is understood the airline has flown more than 1.6m customers to and from the carrier’s 11 Brazilian destinations in its network.

September 2023 saw TAP Air Portugal operate 1,318 flights to and from Brazil and have flown 97% of the total number of all customers flown in 2019 between Brazil and Europe.

In a statement, the airline said the following on this:

“Brazil is one of TAP’s priority markets and the airline will continue to invest in its product offering to ensure it remains the leading airline connecting it with Europe.”

“TAP has been considered the leading airline from Europe to South America for 10 consecutive years by the World Travel Awards, a recognition of the carrier’s excellent service.”

The growth doesn’t stop there for the airline and it’s presence within the continent. For the 2024 schedule, TAP Air Portugal will operate a record 91 flights per week to Brazil from its operations in Lisbon and Porto.

From Brazil alone, the carrier operates to the following destinations:

  • São Paulo
  • Rio de Janeiro
  • Belém
  • Belo Horizonte
  • Brasília
  • Fortaleza
  • Natal
  • Maceió
  • Porto Alegre
  • Recife
  • Salvador

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on TAP Air Portugal to see what their performance will look like in South America going into 2024.
