Stratos Sells Two Airbus A330s for Etihad Airways

Aircraft asset manager Stratos has this week announced the arrangement of the sale of two Airbus A330-200s for Etihad Airways.

According to the company, this continues “a deal flow involving 10 widebodies to different buyers and lessees over the past 12 months”.

Jamie Carter, Commercial Director of Stratos said the following on the sale of the two A330s for Etihad Airways:

“The placement of these aircraft has been challenging but we are delighted to have assisted Etihad in finding an optimal solution for the aircraft.”

“This sale confirms not only our ability to find aircraft solutions for small and large airline clients alike, but also our ability to place widebody and narrow body aircraft in all types of markets.”

It is understood that the aircraft in question are MSN 825 and 831.

As per data from Planespotters.net, MSN 825 is VP-CEU & MSN 831 is VP-CEV.

VP-CEU is a 16.9 year old Airbus A330-200 that first started out life with Jet Airways in April 2007. The aircraft was handed over to Etihad Airways in December 2013.

By June 2015, the aircraft was given to Alitalia on the lease from the Abu Dhabi-based carrier, before being sent for storage in Teurel in February 2021.

As for VP-CEV, this is a 16.7 year old Airbus A330-200 also, which also started out life with Jet Airways in May 2007.

The aircraft was transferred to Etihad Airways in December 2013 as well, and headed out to Alitalia in June 2015 as well as VP-CEU. This jet was withdrawn from use and stored in Teurel in January 2021.
