Taiwan-based luxury carrier STARLUX Airlines marked a major milestone this week with the inauguration of its nonstop service between Taipei and Los Angeles.

Los Angeles becomes the new airline’s first destination in North America. STARLUX marked this momentous occasion with a celebratory event following Flight JX002’s 11:00 a.m. PT landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Wednesday 26 April.

STARLUX Chairman K.W. Chang, who also holds the rank of Captain for the Airbus A350 type rating, piloted the inaugural flight from Taipei to Los Angeles.

The inaugural flight is the first of a series of new long-haul intercontinental routes planned for North America, Europe, and Oceania.

Service to Los Angeles will depart Taipei Airport on Monday and Wednesday through Saturday. STARLUX will operate the route with its next-generation Airbus A350 aircraft.

The five-times weekly service is then expected to ramp up to a daily service in June.

“Today we celebrate a major milestone for STARLUX — completion of our very first long-haul flight from Taipei to Los Angeles,” said STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai.

“It is a gratifying moment as we reflect on our early 2020 launch flights that took place right before the pandemic. We remained undaunted and forged ahead leveraging Taipei’s geographical advantage to expand routes to 16 Asian destinations,” he concluded.

In-flight luxury

The new flights will be flown on STARLUX’s Airbus 350 aircraft and feature four seats in First, 26 in Business, 36 in Premium Economy and 240 in Economy.

From first class to economy, STARLUX flights are designed to delight and soothe the senses, from earth-toned interiors to award-winning crew attire to curated in-cabin aromatherapy and Michelin-rated meals.

Guests on the new route will enjoy luxury service. First and Business travelers have a private space with a sliding door and seats with full-flat and Zero G mode for full relaxation.

The extra-legroom Premium Economy section features a 40-inch Recaro seat with leg rest and footrest bar. Economy Class seats are built for utmost comfort, with leather headrest and wide seat pitch. All passengers have seatback entertainment featuring 4K personal large screens.

The new flights provide exquisite dining including Taiwanese signature dishes and amenities prepared for all-class passengers to enjoy an at-home experience in the air.

To bring greater individuality to their air travel experience, passengers are able to pre-order meals online so they can enjoy the meal they want.

Codeshare with Alaska Airlines

This week the premium Taiwanese carrier also announced news of a newly brokered codeshare agreement with Alaska Airlines. The Alaskan carrier became the first code share partner for the new airline.
