Spirit Airlines [NYSE: SAVE] will launch a new, nonstop service to Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport (TQO) in Tulum, Mexico.
Notably, Spirit Airlines will become the first U.S.-based ultra low-cost carrier (ULCC) to offer services at this brand-new airport.
Daily flights will be departing from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO) starting on March 28, 2024.
Tulum: A Rising Star in Travel
Tulum, often dubbed the “jewel of Mexico’s east coast,” has been gaining increasing popularity among leisure travelers.
Its pristine beaches, rich history, and an array of unique experiences make it an irresistible destination. With Spirit Airlines’ new direct flights from Florida, exploring Tulum has never been easier.
These flights are set to take off just in time for spring break, ensuring that your next vacation is right around the corner.

John Kirby, the Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, spoke about this new development, saying,
“We have a long history of serving Mexico, and Tulum’s new airport is a great addition that will make it easier for our Guests to get to the city and enjoy its beaches, history, and variety of unique experiences.”
Expanding International Operations
The introduction of nonstop flights to Tulum not only benefits travelers but also expands Spirit Airlines’ international services. Fort Lauderdale (FLL) now offers nonstop flights to 26 different destinations, while Orlando (MCO) connects to 11 destinations internationally.
Florida serves as a vital gateway to Spirit Airlines’ flights to Latin America and the Caribbean, and the new TQO service adds a one-stop option for Guests traveling from 53 cities across the United States.

The airline has received several accolades in recent times. Aviation Week Network’s Air Transport World (ATW) honored Spirit Airlines with the title of “Value Airline of the Year” as part of the ATW 2023 Airline Industry Achievement Awards.
