The new campus offers a convenient and expansive environment for Spirit’s core support teams. The facility is strategically located just minutes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

“The opening of Spirit Central isn’t just a new building. It’s a symbol of a new chapter for Spirit,” shared Ted Christie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Spirit Airlines.

“This milestone reflects on our 30-year legacy of providing exceptional value travel throughout the Americas, and our unwavering commitment to the South Florida community. We’re proud to invest in Broward County and contribute to its local economic growth.”

Stepping inside Spirit Central, visitors are greeted by a unique design that celebrates the company’s spirit.

From an 18-foot-long Airbus A321neo model to a 3D engine cowling and a gallery showcasing the iconic “Howdy” sharklet. The slick new space pays homage to Spirit’s heritage.

A Look Inside the Buildings

  • Support Center: The focal point of the campus, this six-story behemoth boasts 180,000 square feet of office space. It comfortably accommodates over 1,000 team members from various departments, including Operations Control, IT, Flight Operations, and Inflight services.
  • Fueling Station: Conveniently connected to the Support Center, this amenity building offers a haven for team members to recharge. It features a welcoming café, a well-equipped fitness center, and dedicated lounge spaces for relaxation and socializing.
  • Training Hub: The state-of-the-art training facility caters to both Inflight and Flight Operations teams. It boasts cutting-edge flight simulator bays, advanced trainers like the Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer (CEET), classrooms, and dedicated debriefing rooms to ensure comprehensive training for all crew members.
  • The Landing: This welcoming residence serves as a temporary home for team members visiting from out-of-town. Offering accommodations for up to 400 guests, The Landing features meeting rooms, a grab-and-go market for convenient meals, a refreshing pool, a fitness center, and its own parking garage.

Investing in the Community

To commemorate the grand opening, the Spirit Charitable Foundation made a generous $25,000 donation to Dania Beach PATCH (Peoples Access to Community Horticulture).

This urban farm and market aims to provide residents with access to healthy food options and promote community gardening initiatives.

This contribution aligns with the Foundation’s environmental focus, supporting education, cultural growth, access to healthy food sources, and economic development in the community.

Summary

Spirit Central’s impressive design and construction involved a collaborative effort. Florida-based architectural firm HuntonBrady, general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie, and project advisor Jones Lang LaSalle played instrumental roles in bringing Spirit’s vision to life.

Additionally, Spirit partnered with Kimco Realty, the owner and developer of Dania Pointe, to secure the land for the project.

The relocation from Spirit’s current facilities in Miramar, Florida, to the new Spirit Central headquarters in Dania Beach is expected to be finalized within the coming weeks.
