Spirit Airlines has now been flying to Florida for the last 30 years, originally beginning service to the four destinations currently up for grabs from the giveaway.

The airline was founded in Michigan in 1980, but it moved its headquarters to Miramar, Florida in 1999. Since then, the airline has had a significant presence in the Florida region, with Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport serving as its main hub.

In the early 2000s, Spirit Airlines expanded its routes from Florida to other destinations in the United States and the Caribbean.

Since then the carrier has grown to flying to 6 destinations within the state. These other two destinations are West Palm Beach and Miami.

The airline is also operating one of the most fuel efficient fleets within the state, utilising A320neo family aircraft. Spirit has recently announced major cabin enhancements that will benefit the passenger experience further.

Such enhancements include wider seats, added cushion, new head rests and upgrades to their signature “Big Front Seats”.

The airline is on a continuous expansion rate, adding new routes all the time. To support this the airline is also in the midst of a hiring spree for all roles within the company such as:

  1. Pilots
  2. Flight Attendants
  3. Aviation Maintenance and Technicians

On top of this, with the airline reaching its 30 year milestone in Florida it is likely the airline could expand to more destinations within the sunshine state in the near future.
