As the largest carrier in the Czech Republic, Smartwings already has quite an extensive offering of both scheduled and charter routes throughout the year. Launching on November the first 2023, the biggest announcement of the autumn schedule so far is it’s new Egypt destination.

Operating twice a week the new route is a direct flight between Prague and Cairo. Petr Šujan, Smartwings Sales Director said this on the announcement:

A more permanent fixture?

Egypt has featured very highly amongst the top destinations for Czech tourists in the past decade or so and shows no sign of slowing.

As Smartwings launches this new Prague-Cairo route we are expecting to see the Egyptian destinations feature next Summer as well.

Although the inaugural flight isn’t to take place until November tickets are already available. Both outward and return services are being operated as a code-share with Czech Airlines with tickets on sale from either operator.

As part of its winter schedule Smartwings is planning to operate to more than two dozen destinations. The new Cairo destination will feature of course but also Hurghada and Marsa Alam to make up the Egypt offering.

Antalya in Turkey will be a new destination for the winter with a twice weekly flight on a Thursday and Sunday.

Smartwings will also be engaged in charter operations through Prague to Fuerteventura, Kayseri as well as Salalah and Muscat. Ras Al Khaimah and some of the Egyptian destinations will also feature throughout the winter charter offerings.

The Czech airline has a history of making introductions into it’s winter schedules which prove popular. Their move expanding into Dubai a few years ago has been a success for the operator.

Further exclusive contracts for Smartwings

Beginning in mid October there is also more good news for Smartwings. An exclusive contract for Tourism 365, a subsidiary of Etihad Holidays, will be coming into effect.

October 14th sees the initial flights between Abu Dhabi and various German destinations. Abu Dhabi and Cologne, Nuremberg and Leipzig will be connected with 7 flights per week. This further connects the United Arab Emirates with Europe for the winter season.

These services are set to bolster an generous schedule of flights between the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Slovakia and Hungary.
