Shenzhen Airlines launches nonstop Shenzhen-Barcelona service

China’s Shenzhen Airlines has inaugurated a new nonstop service to Barcelona this week.

Flight ZH9065, operated by a Shenzhen Airlines Airbus A330, touched down in Barcelona, Spain on August 28th. This event marked the successful launch of a new direct flight route connecting the vibrant cities of Shenzhen in China and Barcelona.

With 203 eager passengers on board, the flight inaugurated a bridge between two cultures, economies, and tourist hotspots.

A Warm Welcome


The inaugural flight received a jubilant welcome, thanks to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders.

The Barcelona municipality, in partnership with the general consulate of China in Barcelona, the Air Routes Development Committee in Barcelona (CDRA), Network of Airports in Spain (AENA), Shenzhen Airlines, and its partner Air China, orchestrated a heartwarming ceremony to greet the passengers.

The event was graced by esteemed figures including the Mayor of Barcelona, the Deputy Consul-General of China in Barcelona, and numerous representatives from the organizing entities.

Flight Details and Schedule


Operated by Shenzhen Airlines, the round flight between Shenzhen and Barcelona offers convenience and accessibility. The Airbus A330 wide-body passenger aircraft, known for its advanced features, ensures a comfortable journey for every traveler.

Departing from Barcelona, flight ZH9066 takes off at 11:30 local time and reaches Shenzhen at 07:00 Beijing time.

The return flight, ZH9065, departs Shenzhen at 11:30 and lands in Barcelona at 08:05, offering passengers flexible travel options.

Shenzhen Airlines has gone the extra mile to provide cross-city transfers, complimentary transit hotels, an expedited visa process, and other amenities that enhance the overall travel experience.

As 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Spain and China, and the second anniversary of Barcelona and Shenzhen becoming sister cities, the launch of this new route takes on added significance.

The direct connection not only bridges geographical distances but also paves the way for strengthened cooperation in fields such as science, technology, culture, tourism, and trade.
