This week marks a significant milestone for Scoot, the budget arm of Singapore Airlines (SIA), as they kicked off commercial operations with their brand new Embraer E190-E2 fleet.

The inaugural flight, christened “Explorer 3.0,” took off from Singapore’s Changi Airport on May 7th, bound for the popular tourist destination of Krabi, Thailand.

Embraer Commercial Aviation’s Chief Commercial Officer, Martyn Holmes, expressed his congratulations to Scoot on this achievement.

“We are honored to witness the modern and fuel-efficient E2 aircraft take to the skies over Singapore and Southeast Asia,” Holmes remarked.

“We extend our gratitude to everyone involved who tirelessly contributed to making this possible.”

Introduction of Explorer 3.0

Changi Airport hosted a launch event for the E190-E2 ahead of its inaugural revenue flight. In attendance was Mr. Holmes representing Embraer.

Guests attending the event got a closer look at the E190-E2 interior. The modern interior supports hundred and 12 seats in a 2-2 single class configuration. The cabin boasts a standard seat pitch of 29 inches and larger cabin windows.

Scoot Chief Executive Officer Leslie Thng was on hand to provide comment. “We are confident that with this new generation aircraft, we will continue to strengthen our presence in the region.”

Scoot becomes the Southeast Asian launch customer for the regional aircraft. The E-Jet is currently the industry’s quietest and most fuel efficient single aisle aircraft.

The introduction of the Explorer 3.0 brings exciting news for travelers frequently visiting Krabi and Hat Yai.

The inaugural flight connected the island paradise of Krabi with the city of Hat Yai. Krabi is famed for its coral reef vistas and beautiful beaches.

Scoot will be boosting their flight frequencies to these destinations. The scheduling will move from 7 flights per week to a more convenient 10 flights per week for both routes.

Arrival of Second E190-E2

Scoot’s second E190-E2 has already touched down in Singapore on April 29th. This aircraft is now being readied to join the commercial flight schedule very shortly. The remaining seven aircraft are expected to be progressively delivered by the end of 2025.

This addition to their fleet furthers Scoot’s aim of expanding their network. The ability to provide further short haul services offers passengers greater travel options at competitive prices.
