Saudia Technic, a subsidiary of Saudia Group, has moved forward with a project to enhance the First Suites of its Boeing 777 aircraft fleet. These First Suites are exclusively designated for long-haul and direct Saudia flights.

The recent upgrades, spearheaded by a team of highly skilled Saudi engineers and cabin maintenance technicians, are set to elevate the travel experience for passengers while ensuring operational efficiency.

A Modernization Journey

The journey to modernize and upgrade the First Suites began with aircraft HZ-AK37 and has successfully transformed these cabins into luxurious spaces.

The next phase includes upgrading the remaining nine aircraft of the same model, promising a consistent and superior flying experience for passengers.

These enhancements are in line with the latest advancements and innovations in aircraft maintenance, emphasizing Saudia’s commitment to quality and passenger satisfaction.

State-of-the-Art Workshop

To execute these upgrades, Saudia Technic collaborated with Seat Air Systems, a renowned name in the aviation industry.

After the successful procurement and approval of all necessary materials, a state-of-the-art workshop was established at the company’s headquarters at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

This workshop is fully equipped with advanced facilities and tools, ensuring the seamless execution of the required modifications and assembly processes.

Regulatory authorities oversaw the entire process, ensuring that all modifications and upgrades met international safety requirements.

Innovations for Enhanced Comfort

The upgrades themselves are aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and operational efficiency. The First Suite cabin doors were modified to include an additional latch, allowing for smoother and steadier door movement.

Furthermore, an advanced, high-quality metal gear system was installed horizontally to reduce the impact of the door’s weight.

These technical innovations not only improve passenger experience but also contribute to the reduction in the aircraft’s overall weight, ultimately leading to reduced operational costs.

Local Talent

His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of the Saudia Group, emphasized the importance of localizing the aviation industry.

Saudia Technic’s successful upgrade of the First Suites reflects this vision by employing qualified and highly skilled Saudi talent.

This localization of maintenance, development, and technical manufacturing operations plays a pivotal role in the growth of the Kingdom and the region.

International Recognition

The completion of the First Suite upgrades for Saudia’s Boeing 777 was a significant milestone. It not only met international standards but also earned Saudia the necessary accreditation and licenses from the General Authority of Civil Aviation and the Federal Aviation Administration.

These approvals will enable Saudia to further develop and upgrade the remaining aircraft within the fleet, ensuring passengers continue to enjoy top-notch services.
