Saudia & Riyadh Air Sign MoU

As hinted at during their previous questions and press announcements, this week, Saudia and Riyadh Air have inked a new strategic cooperation MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) in a historical moment for both Kingdom of Saudi Arabia carriers.

This new MoU will mean that both carriers will collaborate on their operations by interline agreements and codesharing as well as the introduction of mutually beneficial loyalty programs for their customers. This new partnership will also open up many more destinations for their customers.

Not only will passengers see these benefits, but also the KSA aviation sector will see significant improvements with the implementation of new synergies and efficiencies including digital development, aviation support and cargo/logistics.

Executive Comments

Saudia’s Chief Executive Officer, Capt. Ibrahim Koshy, has commented on this new MoU with Riyadh Air, saying, “We’re delighted to be working alongside Riyadh Air and look forward to seeing another Saudi carrier supporting the national aviation strategy and Kingdom’s objectives in tourism.”

“This is a historic moment in where we join forces to serve guests travelling from and to the Kingdom. Saudia and Riyadh Air will positively disrupt the industry as a whole and so we are proud to sign this MOU that signifies our partnership intent.”

Adding to Capt. Koshy’s comments, Riyadh Air’s Chief Executive Officer, Tony Douglas, says, “The MoU signing of this strategic collaboration shows a solid statement of intent from both airlines. Riyadh Air and Saudia will play a significant part in the growth of travel tourism within the Kingdom and so having the national carriers working side-by-side is the best way to accelerate and manage this growth.”

“We are confident that Riyadh Air will raise the bar in air travel and working in cooperation with Saudia will help us achieve this as we prepare for takeoff in 2025.”
