The national flag carrier of Thailand, Thai Airways opened its sales office in Jeddah at the Movenpick Hotel, Madinah Road. The new office was inaugurated by the Thai Consul-General, Mr. Kitinai Nutakul, who graciously presided over the opening ceremony.

Present at the event were Mr. Pisoot Suwanrasami, Deputy Consul-General, and Mr. Apichat Prasertsud, Director of the Thai Trade Center in Jeddah,

Diplomatic Facilitation

The two countries restored full diplomatic relations early last year (2022), whereby flights between the two countries resumed. The opening of the office is yet another impressive milestone, in both cultural and economic dimensions, showing that the traffic between the two Kingdoms is growing.

In addition, the Council-General himself congratulated the airline for its successful expansion into the Saudi market, just after a year the two nations resumed normal relations.

The general local sales agent, Al Maha United of the Thai carrier also voiced out support for the Consul-General for the airline in all domains, ranging from booking seats, and facilitation of the visa process for those who wish to travel to the Kingdom of Thailand.

Diplomatic facilitation is key for the Thai carrier to achieve such success.

In fact, the country manager of Al Maha United, Mr. Ishaque Zubair mentioned to the attendees that at the conclusion of Thai Airway’s hajj operation, the Thai airline will then proceed to normal schedule service on the Bangkok-Jeddah-Bangkok route as of 7th August 2023.

Schedule

The airline will fly the route 5 days a week, with flights leaving from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport as TG503 every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 18:45 hours (local time) and will be arriving in Jeddah at 22:40 hours local time in the same day.

The same aircraft will depart back to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi as TG504 from Jeddah the next day at 00:40 hours local time. The airline often switches between the newer Boeing 787-8 aircraft and the older Boeing 777-200ER aircraft respectively.

Office Opening Hours

The new office of Thai Airways in Jeddah will be open from Sunday to Thursday from 09:00 hours to 18:00 hours, on Saturday the opening times will be from 09:000 hours to 15:00 hours.

The office will offer passengers comfort and convenience in booking flights, ticketing, special holiday packages, and business negotiations with respective travel agencies.

Bottom Line

Thai Airways is slowly but surely perfecting its post-pandemic performance. Many are saying that the airline is performing better than expected.

The opening of the new office marks that the airline is somewhat financially stable, but raises questions, as the airline is selling most of its non-aviation assets around the world, including in Hong Kong and London. The opening of the office in Jeddah signifies that the airline is very bullish on the Saudi market.
