Ryanair, Europe’s major low-cost carrier, unveiled its most extensive summer schedule ever for Cluj-Napoca.
The S24 program features five exciting new routes: Brussels, Dublin, London, Milan, and Paris. This expansion will significantly increase passenger traffic.
Ryanair 40% Growth Projection
Ryanair projects a 40% growth to 285,000 passengers flying to and from Cluj-Napoca on 30 weekly flights. This boost in air travel is expected to stimulate the local economy and create over 230 jobs.
The announcement coincides with Ryanair’s fifth year of operation in Cluj-Napoca, further solidifying their commitment to the region.
While Wizz Air appears to be scaling back its European operations, Ryanair continues its impressive growth trajectory, not only in Romania but across Europe.
Notably, Wizz Air has cut back routes and aircraft, including over 20 routes to and from Romania this summer.
This summer season offers even greater ease of travel for passengers in Cluj-Napoca, as Romania officially joined the Schengen Area on March 31st, 2024.
This membership allows for smoother travel between member states, encompassing over 420 million citizens.
To celebrate this milestone and the benefits it brings to Romanian air travelers, Ryanair launched a special 3-day seat sale with fares starting from just €24.99. Bookings can be made exclusively on Ryanair’s website.
Cluj-Napoca: A Thriving City Awaits
Cluj-Napoca, a vibrant city nestled in northwestern Romania, is a captivating destination for travelers seeking a unique blend of history, culture, and modern energy.
As a major economic and cultural hub of Transylvania, Cluj-Napoca boasts a rich architectural heritage, with stunning Gothic landmarks like St. Michael’s Church and baroque gems like the Bánffy Palace.
Beyond its historical charm, the city pulsates with a youthful vibe thanks to its renowned universities and a thriving arts scene. Cozy cafes lining charming squares invite relaxation, while energetic pubs and nightclubs offer a taste of the city’s nightlife.
Cluj-Napoca also serves as a gateway to the captivating region of Transylvania, famed for its dramatic castles, charming villages, and the legend of Dracula.
Whether you’re a history buff, a culture enthusiast, or simply seeking a lively and welcoming city break, Cluj-Napoca promises an unforgettable experience.
Mauro Bola, Head of Communications for Italy & Eastern Mediterranean at Ryanair, expressed excitement about their extensive summer schedule for Cluj-Napoca.
“This expansion,” Bola said, “demonstrates Ryanair’s dedication to the region,” particularly when contrasted with competitor Wizz Air’s recent cutbacks.
Ryanair anticipates the new routes will bring a significant boost to passengers. It anticipates 40% growth, with the local economy gaining over 230 jobs.
Cluj International Airport Welcomes Expansion
Mr. David Ciceo, CEO of Cluj International Airport, echoed the positive sentiment, praising Ryanair’s regional commitment. He highlighted the expansion as a sign of both airline confidence and growing regional demand for air travel.
The increased frequencies, Ciceo noted, will provide passengers with greater travel options and flexibility.
Cluj International Airport, committed to continuous improvement, looks forward to partnering with Ryanair to further expand their network and enhance the travel experience for all.
