Zaragoza and Tourism

Zaragoza, the capital of northeastern Spain’s Aragon region, is a city rich in history and culture. It’s known for the colossal Basilica del Pilar, a famous pilgrimage site with a shrine to the Virgin Mary and multiple domes.

The region itself isn’t solely reliant on tourism. Zaragoza is a major industrial and commercial center, and the surrounding region is agricultural.

However, tourism does play a significant role in the city’s economy. Zaragoza is a popular destination for both Spanish and international tourists.  As such, the city has a well-developed tourism infrastructure.

Here are some of the things that attract tourists to Zaragoza:

  • History and culture: Zaragoza has a long and rich history, and there are many historical and cultural attractions to see in the city. These include the Basilica del Pilar, the Aljafería (an 11th-century Moorish palace), the Cathedral of the Savior, and the Caesar Augusta Roman Ruins Museum.
  • Art: The city is home to a number of art museums, including the Goya Museum, which houses a collection of works by the famous Spanish artist Francisco Goya.
  • Food and drink: It has a lively tapas scene, and there are many bars and restaurants serving traditional Aragonese cuisine.
  • Festivals: Zaragoza hosts a number of festivals throughout the year, including the Fiestas del Pilar (a two-week festival held in honor of the Virgin Mary) and the Zaragoza Film Festival.

Conclusion

Ryanair’s substantial expansion in Zaragoza will undoubtedly benefit the region. With a diverse range of routes and a commitment to affordability, Ryanair will foster tourism growth and economic development in the region.

As the airline continues to prioritize customer satisfaction and accessibility, the summer 2024 schedule marks a significant milestone in Zaragoza’s aviation landscape.
