In total, 28 routes will be served from Kaunas, Lithuania, with Ryanair adding Berlin, Pisa and Zadar flights as part of this expansion.

With this in mind, the Irish low-cost carrier expects traffic at the airport to grow by 18% to over 1.2m passengers per annum, supporting over 1,000 jobs in the area.

Alicja Wójcik-Gołębiowska, the representative to Ryanair said the following on this:

“As Europe’s No.1 airline, Ryanair is pleased to announce our Kaunas S24 schedule with 3 new routes to Berlin, Pisa and Zadar.”

“Ryanair continues to deliver more traffic, jobs and more low fares than any other airline. Ryanair has based 1 additional B737 aircraft (additional $100m invest.) in Kaunas this summer as we expect S24 traffic in Kaunas to grow by 18% to over 1.2m pax.”

“Furthermore, our Kaunas Aircraft Maintenance Service (KAMS) is currently seeking candidates to fill 250 highly skilled positions, including aircraft mechanics and structural repair team.”

Adding to this was Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports:

“Ryanair’s further expansion at Kaunas Airport and daily flights to the main airports of Copenhagen and Stockholm, as well as a new route to Berlin in the summer schedule for 2024, are an exceptional opportunity for inbound tourism to the Kaunas region.”

All eyes will be on how the expansion plans perform in the Summer 2024 season for the airline, but also for the Lithuanian airport too.
