Qatar Airways Resumes Daily Tokyo Ops

On June 1, it has been announced that the Qatari flag carrier, Qatar Airways, has resumed its daily services to Tokyo Haneda, Japan.

This article will cover the details surrounding the carriers’ resumption of their daily services to Tokyo in Japan and their plans for the Japanese capital city.

Qatar Airways to Resume Daily Tokyo Services

This week it has been announced that Qatar Airways will be resuming its daily services between its home base in Doha, Qatar to the Japanese capital city, Tokyo.

The daily services restarted on June 1, 2023, using the carriers’ Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

The outbound flight, QR812 departs Qatar’s Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) at 07:15 a.m. and arrives at Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport (HND) at 23:30 a.m. All times stated are local.

The return flight QR813 departs Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND) at 01:00 a.m. and arrives back at Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) at 06:30 a.m. All times stated are local.

Qatar Airways currently operates a total of 34 Airbus A350-900’s of which 15 of those are still parked following the dispute between themselves and Airbus over the aircraft’s accelerated surface erosion. The carriers’ Airbus A350-900s are configured with a total of 283 seats broken down into 36 of the carrier’s award-winning Qsuite Business Class seats and 247 Economy Class seats.

Their resumed Tokyo Haneda service comes in addition to Qatar’s existing daily Doha to Tokyo Narita service, which is currently served using the carrier’s Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.

With both of these services now operational, The carriers’ weekly Tokyo operations will double from seven to 14 weekly flights.

Executive Comments


Commenting on their Tokyo Haneda resumption, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency My. Akbar Al Baker has said, “The resumption of the Tokyo Haneda-Doha service follows our major network expansion announced at ITB Berlin 2023, which will see an extra 655 weekly flights in 2023 compared to 2022.”

“Japan remains a significant market for Qatar Airways and its passengers, and in addition to Haneda, the airline will soon be resuming flights to Osaka this year.”

Adding to His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker’s comments, Qatar Airways’ Regional Manager for Japan and Korea, Shinji Miyamoto, says, “We are very pleased to announce the resumption of flights to Haneda Airport due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“We are also very pleased that Japanese customers will be able to experience Qatar Airways’ award-winning business class, Qsuite, which is being introduced for the first time ever in Japan. Qatar is scheduled to host various world-class events this year following the successful FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, including the coveted Formula 1® race for motorsports fans.”

“We hope many Japanese will fly with Qatar Airways to visit Qatar, as it is a destination that features countless tourist attractions such as magnificent desert experiences and preserved heritage sites.”
