The Doha based carrier, Qatar Airways, has been appointed as a new global airline partner by the racing league Formula One (F1).

The appointment comes as the two parts have agreed on a multi-year partnership, and was announced during the Motorsport Festival in Doha. The carrier is set to sponsor three Grand Prix throughout 2023.

The details

With the Motorsport Festival currently ongoing in Doha, Qatar, the recently voted Airline of the Year, Qatar Airways, announced a new partnership with the racing league Formula One.

This effectively makes Qatar Airways the official Global Airline Partner of Formula One, on a multi-year partnership.

The new partnership will include Qatar Airways sponsoring three Formula 1 Grand Prix throughout the year, and the Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix will be making its return in October.

Events will also include the Qatar Airways Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell’Emilia-Romagna, and the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Hungarian Grand Prix.

The deal also includes trackside along with digital branding, to be showcased to Formula One’s audience during races.

Package flights available

As part of the arrangement with Qatar Airways, the airline is set to offer customers the chance to buy a limited number of travel packages to select Grand Prix events, so fans can witness the entertainment and spectacle of Formula 1.

For the races, including the returning Qatar Grand Prix, Formula 1 fans will be able to purchase return flights to a Grand Prix destination, including race tickets along with the air fare.

Statements

On this agreement with Qatar Airways, Stefano Domenicali, the President and CEO of Formula 1, said:-

“As the pinnacle of motorsport, it makes sense for Formula 1 to partner with a global leader in aviation like Qatar Airways. We are two brands committed to delivering the best experience to our fans and customers, and our combined reach globally makes this a perfect match.”

He adds: “We also share a passion for technology and innovation, particularly as we all work together for a greener future. We are delighted to welcome Qatar Airways as our Global Airline Partner.”

Overall

Despite being two completely different brands and both respectively being in different markets, it is excellent for both parts to embark on a multi-year partnership like this, seeing that both parts have great things to offer, especially in favor of Formula 1.

With the airline operating cargo and passenger flights, Formula 1 and its fans is likely to benefit from air freight options with cars and equipment, whilst also bringing Formula 1 spectators to the events available in the package deals the airline will have.
