From 29 August 2023, Australian and New Zealand based travel agents and their customers will be able to take advantage of discounted trans-Tasman fares via the Qantas Distribution Platform.

Australian national carrier Qantas has announced an extension to its lower pricing initiative on the Qantas Distribution Platform (QDP), offering discounted trans-Tasman fares to trade partners and customers based in Australia and New Zealand.

This move aims to provide enhanced value to travel agents and their clients by offering lower fares of up to 5% compared to other indirect booking systems.

A step towards modernisation

The QDP, built using the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) New Distribution Capability (NDC) standards, represents a significant step towards modernizing the services offered by trade partners.

It introduces a range of new products, features, and capabilities, allowing for a more seamless and personalized booking experience.

Qantas initially introduced discounted fares for Australian domestic flights in November last year. The extension of this initiative to trans-Tasman fares highlights the airline’s commitment to rewarding its travel agents and customers who utilize the QDP platform.

By leveraging the latest technology and industry standards, Qantas aims to provide richer content to travel agents, enabling them to better serve their mutual customers.

Enhancing customer travel experience

Igor Kwiatkowski, Qantas Executive Manager of Global Sales and Distribution, expressed the airline’s dedication to delivering top-notch distribution capabilities.

He emphasized the company’s focus on providing agents with a wide array of choices and personalized offers to enhance the travel experience for customers.

With the Qantas Distribution Platform, travel agents can access a wealth of content and take advantage of the next-generation technology and its associated benefits.

To access QDP content, travel agents who have registered in the Qantas Channel can utilize an Approved Technology Partner or establish a direct connection to Qantas’ NDC XML Application Program Interface (API).

This flexibility allows trade partners to tailor their approach and seamlessly integrate the platform into their existing systems.

Summary

In conclusion, Qantas’ extension of the lower pricing initiative on the Qantas Distribution Platform reinforces its commitment to trade partners and customers.

By offering discounted fares and an enhanced booking experience, Qantas aims to solidify its position as a leading airline while empowering its partners to provide exceptional service.

Travel agents and customers utilizing the QDP can expect a wide range of choices, personalized offers, and a seamless travel experience in the trans-Tasman region.
